Jerónimo López’s return to the same valley in Nepal, 50 years after he first visited it to climb Manaslu, the first of the fourteen eight-thousanders to be scaled by Spaniards. A comparison of the expeditions of the 1970s with that undertaken in 2025 provides an opportunity to discuss the changes that have taken place in mountaineering in the Himalayas.
